Action Politics—a FREE short story

December 14, 2014

In addition to the release of Wage Slave Rebellion (available now on Amazon for $3.99), I have something else for you today—a free short story! Taking place one month after the events of Wage Slave Rebellion, Action Politics continues the story of Mazik, Gavi, and Raedren and their quest to become adventurers. And it’s available for free! Freeeee! (Unless you don’t want it to be. Keep reading.)

I’m not going to talk about the plot, because I don’t want to risk spoiling the first book. If you like Wage Slave Rebellion, I heartily recommend Action Politics. Instead, I’ll explain why there’s a short story at all.

It always struck me as odd how all the major events in characters’ lives seem to happen at the same time. What about all the smaller adventures? That’s why I’m taking a page from Full Metal Panic!, and writing some Fumoffu of my own.

That doesn’t mean my short stories will be comedic. They’ll be similar in tone to the main novels, and absolutely canon (unless otherwise noted). They’ll simply be shorter, so I can tell the stories that don’t need a full-length novel to be told. I like writing adventures, and sometimes it’s in the smaller adventures that we really get to know the characters. I want to show you those.

I’ll be offering some of these short stories for download through a service called Gumroad. I’ve elected to use a pay-what-you-want model, and the price for Action Politics has been set at $0+. That means if you want to pay $0, you can download it for free! However, if you’d like to give me a tip, Gumroad allows you to do so quickly and easily. Anything you contribute is appreciated, and will help me keep writing.

Do not feel obligated to pay. My plan is to write a bunch of short stories and collect them into a compilation volume which will go up on Amazon, Smashwords, etc. This book will contain both previously released short stories and brand new ones, and I’ll ask you to throw me a few bucks then.

Please consider anything you pay to download Action Politics and future short stories through Gumroad as a tip, not an obligation. I don’t want to pressure anyone, nor make anyone feel guilty. I just wanted to make the option available in case anyone felt unusually flush with cash, or thought I sounded thirsty and wanted to toss me a couple bucks for a beer.

Action Politics is a lot of fun, and there will be more where it came from. If you liked Wage Slave Rebellion, you can download Action Politics now.
