Connection

June 24, 2014

A funny thing happened when I wrote nine posts in one afternoon: I lost all sense of connection with this blog.

When I write two posts and schedule one of them out for later that week, I stay connected. By the time the scheduled post appears, I still remember writing it. Lately, it’s felt like I’m not even the one writing this blog, but someone else who has the same name.

“Oh, that post published today?” I’ve found myself saying. “Cool. I liked that one.” Or I didn’t. Whatever. I didn’t pay much attention because writing the post was a something past-me did, and present-me was only interested in seeing the reaction.

I don’t like that. That’s not why I made this blog. To me, Random Curiosity has always been about the collaborative experience between blogger and reader, but this site was meant to be different. Whereas my RandomC posts are written to be read, these are written to be written. They’re about polishing my craft and giving you a peek into my crazy mind; the reaction shouldn’t matter.

I don’t like that. I don’t think I’ll be writing that many posts at once ever again.
