Make progress every single day

July 23, 2013

Even if it’s not what you expected, even if you didn’t hit your target, even if you’re way behind your deadline, even if you had to tear apart days of your own work because you realized that it just wasn’t working out, as I had to do today. Just keep making progress.

Make progress. Make good progress, inexorably progress, a little more progress every single day, progress towards that grand goal you have in mind. Work wise and work hard and you’ll get there. Just make sure you keep working.

Another day has passed, and it looks even less likely that I’ll make it in time for my latest challenge. I will still try with every ounce of my strength, but even if I don’t make it, that’s okay. I’m happy that I figured out what I was doing wrong (I hope, I hope), and I think my story will be stronger for it.

So this day wasn’t a waste. I didn’t get to do much with the scenes I wanted to focus on, but that’s okay. I made progress – good progress, helpful progress, important progress – and that’s what really matters. So it’s okay.
